Yoga for CFS, Burnout and Stress comprises of seven sessions including breathing, stretching, relaxation, meditation and chanting. The aim of each practice (which averages around half an hour) is to soothe the central nervous system so that deep healing and rest can occur – thus boosting vitality and well-being. The yoga in this series also works by helping you to become more mindful so that you can truly inhabit your body – which, in turn, calms down any anxiety or rapid thinking. Whether you are new to yoga or a regular practitioner, these sessions are a profound way of supporting your energy and healing, and you can choose the session best suited your needs on any given day.

In 1999 Fiona’s book ‘Beat Fatigue with Yoga’ was published by Element books. It was greatly acclaimed by people with M.E. or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as it showed a clear way forward for people to work towards recovery, using the breathing, meditation and yoga postures. The book however was not just aimed at people who were profoundly ill with fatigue but anyone who suffers from exhaustion and tiredness and who might find a yoga class too difficult or too tiring to get to.
‘Beat Fatigue with Yoga’ has been republished by Cherry Red Books. Greatly updated and with new photographs showing the postures in detail, the book is an asset to anyone who suffers from fatigue or who is interested in doing some yoga or meditation at home. The book is simple to read and is written in a step-by step way so that even those with severe tiredness can benefit from reading the book.

After Beat Fatigue with Yoga was published there were many requests for a DVD, so that people could practice a simple yoga routine everyday in their own home. In Beat Fatigue with Yoga the DVD, Fiona teaches a 25-minute routine suitable for people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. There are additional yoga routines with Sue Delf. The first ten minutes features gentle stretching, proper yoga breathing and relaxation techniques to increase energy. The next 15-minute section is a remedial section suitable for anyone who wants a gentle yoga session. The final part of the DVD is taught by Sue Delf, a British Wheel of Yoga teacher, who also teaches at Triyoga. Sue breaks the hour in to three sections so that if you are very fit you can work through the whole DVD. Otherwise you can just select the section that you want to work in on a particular day. Sue and Fiona have designed the DVD so that it progresses from very gentle stretches through to stronger postures towards the end. The DVD is directed by Alex Howard, author of ‘Why ME?’ And Director of the ‘Optimum Health Clinic’ in London.
